Fascias carry the gutters, soffits close the edge, and the gutters take every drop the roof sheds; when any of them fails, the roof's edge details are the first casualty. We look after rooflines for the same reason we look after roofs: it is the same water.

Why roofline care is roof care
A blocked or sagging gutter does not announce itself; it just redirects water to places designed to stay dry. The overflow soaks fascia boards until they rot, tracks behind the edge trim, and undermines the drip details a flat roof depends on to shed water cleanly. By the time a damp patch appears indoors, the sequence has usually been running for seasons. Keeping the roofline sound is the cheapest leak prevention a building can buy.
What we do at the roofline
- Fascia and soffit replacement. Decayed boards renewed in full, with an honest line on capping: over sound, dry timber it is a fair finish; over rot it is concealment, and we will not sell it as a repair.
- Gutter replacement and realignment. Failed runs renewed; runs that merely hold water re-set to fall correctly, which is often the cheaper and better fix.
- Gutter clearing on a schedule. As a standing add-on to planned maintenance visits, outlets and runs are cleared before they can back up over the roof edge, and the roofline is checked while we are there.
Where roofline decay turns out to be the tail of a bigger problem, a roof at the end of its life shedding water badly, we say so and route the conversation to replacement rather than dressing the symptom.
Frequently asked questions
Do you replace fascias without doing the roof?
Yes. Roofline work stands on its own: rotten fascia boards, tired soffits and failed gutters can all be renewed without touching the covering above, and often should be, precisely so the roof edge stays protected.
Can you cap over rotten timber?
No, and we will say so on site. Capping is a legitimate finish over sound, dry boards; over rot it is a cosmetic lid on an active problem, hiding decay that carries on behind the plastic. Where the timber has gone, the honest job is replacement first, capping or new boards after.
Can gutter clearing be added to a maintenance plan?
Yes, and it is one of the most cost-effective lines on the schedule. Clearing gutters and checking the roofline during each planned maintenance visit costs little and prevents exactly the edge failures that generate emergency calls each winter.
Do overflowing gutters damage flat roofs?
Directly. Water spilling a blocked gutter runs down the fascia, soaks the roof edge and works into the very details a flat roof relies on: drip edges, upstand terminations and the timber behind them. Most rotten fascias sit below a gutter that stopped doing its job years earlier.
Do you realign gutters or only replace them?
Both. A gutter that holds water often needs its falls corrected rather than new parts, and realignment is the cheaper fix when the run itself is sound. Replacement earns its place when joints, brackets or the profile have genuinely failed.
