About

About Pluvian Roofing

You are about to let somebody onto your roof, somewhere you cannot see, to do work you cannot easily check. That is a lot to ask of a website, so this page says who you would be dealing with and how the work is run, rather than describing a company in the third person.

Who runs it

Kamil Hala

I own Pluvian Roofing, and I am the one who comes and looks at your roof. The survey is mine and so is the report that follows it: what I found, what caused it and what it needs, written by the person who was actually up there rather than typed up from a description. If you ring the number on this site, you are ringing me.

Laying the roof is a different job and it is not mine alone. Our own team does that work, with subcontractors I have worked with before where a job is larger or wants a specialist, and I oversee it on site. I still spend time up there with them. But this company is not one man on a ladder and was never meant to be: a firm that depends on a single pair of hands cannot look after a portfolio or an industrial unit, and those are among the buildings it is built for.

I have worked on flat roofs since 2018. The company is a great deal newer than that: Pluvian Roofing Ltd was registered in September 2026, and I would rather say so plainly than let a website imply a history it has not got. What is behind the work is the years, not the letterhead, and those two things are worth keeping apart when you are deciding who to trust.

Starting a company under my own name changes one thing that matters to you: there is nobody for me to point at when something is wrong. That is the arrangement I wanted.

The decision

Why flat roofs and nothing else

Most roofing firms will take a flat roof on. It arrives between pitched jobs, it is treated as the simpler work, and it is quietly the part of the trade with the least room for error: a tile can be wrong by a few millimetres and shed water anyway, a lap cannot.

So I stopped taking the other work. It is a narrower business than it could be and that is the point: the details that decide whether a flat roof lasts, the upstands, the outlets, the junctions with everything else on the building, are the ones you only get right by doing them constantly. Pitched tiling and slating go to somebody who does that constantly instead, and I would rather turn the work down than learn it on your building.

How the work runs

Four positions I will not move on

Each is argued properly on its own page. Here they are together, in my words, because between them they decide how your job goes.

  • I price roofs I have stood on. What settles the answer is nearly always something you cannot see from the pavement, so the figure follows a proper look and reaches you in writing with the reasoning beside it.
  • Quoting is free; a written report is not. I do not charge for coming, climbing up and putting a price on the work, however that price lands. What carries a fee is a condition survey, where what you are buying is the document rather than the visit. You know that fee before I put a date in the diary, and it is deducted from the job if you go ahead.
  • Two systems, laid by our team, named in your specification. Reinforced bituminous membrane (RBM), the torch-on felt family, over the open field, and cold-applied liquid waterproofing where a flame has no business being. Whatever else is already up there we survey, mend and overlay, but we do not pretend to install it new.
  • My limits are written down too. Structural design, glazing, balustrades and anything involving cement sheeting go to trades that hold them, and my quotation names the parts that are somebody else's before a day is booked.

Manufacturer approvals and accreditations

HYDRONYLON Approved Contractor mark
HYDRONYLON Approved Contractor
Manufacturer approval for the liquid-applied waterproofing system we install. It is what lets that system go into a specification under its own name, on the terms its maker publishes. Confirmable with the issuer.Certificate HAC-0007, which runs to September 2028.

That is the first. Manufacturer approvals and safety schemes will be listed here as they are granted, each with its number and the date it runs to, and an application in progress will not appear until it is one. The full list lives on our accreditations page.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Pluvian a one-man company, and who actually turns up?

No. Kamil Hala owns the company, carries out the surveys and writes the reports, and he oversees the work on site. The roof itself is laid by our own team, with trusted subcontractors alongside them on larger or more specialist jobs. Who will be on your building is settled and told to you before the work starts, not on the first morning.

Do you subcontract, and what for?

Yes, on part of the work, and it matters which part. Roofing is done by our own team, and on larger or more specialist jobs trusted subcontractors work with them, to the same specification and under the same supervision. Separately from that, several trades that meet a roof are never ours at all and go to firms that hold them: structural design, specialist glazing, balustrades and railings, and anything involving cement sheeting. Both kinds are named in the quotation rather than discovered on site.

How far do you travel?

Croydon is home and the working map runs across twelve South London boroughs from there. Distance is stated honestly on each area page: some are next door, some are a planned run across the city with a real date attached rather than a promised response time.

Who is the work for, homeowners or managing agents?

Both, on the same roofs and to the same standard. What differs is the paperwork rather than the roofing: an agent or a housing team needs reporting they can forward upward and dates that suit a building nobody is vacating, while somebody with a leaking extension mostly needs the leak explained and stopped.

Want that in person rather than on a page?

The building, the postcode, and what has gone wrong up there. Whatever comes back is written by the person who would be surveying it.

Coming out and pricing the work is free; a written condition survey carries a fee, agreed before the visit and taken off the price of the work if you go ahead.
